eSSL Attendance Excel Export: Headers and Pitfalls

An eSSL eTimeTrackLite attendance log is a short punch list. The header shape our tests cover is EmployeeCode, EmployeeName, DateTime. WatheeqaHR reads EmployeeCode as the employee ID and DateTime as the punch time. Header matching ignores spaces, dots, dashes and underscores, so EmployeeCode and Employee Code are the same to the analyzer. There is no direction column, so first and last punch of the day decide check-in and check-out.

eSSL: header shape, what WatheeqaHR reads and pitfalls

  1. The header shape our tests cover

The automated tests resolve this header row: EmployeeCode, EmployeeName, DateTime, with EmployeeCode as the employee ID. Export the eTimeTrackLite attendance log as Excel or CSV.

  2. What WatheeqaHR reads from it

EmployeeCode is the employee ID, EmployeeName the name and DateTime the combined date and time of the punch, so there is no separate Date column to supply.

  3. How the header spelling is matched

The matcher lowercases the header and removes spaces, dots, dashes and underscores before comparing. EmployeeCode, Employee Code, employee_code and employee-code therefore all match. Employee Number is recognised as well, which matters if another software version words the column differently.

  4. Pitfall: no direction column

This shape has no in or out column. The first punch of each day is check-in and the last is check-out, so an accidental extra punch before the real arrival or after the real departure changes the result. A day with only one punch appears as a missing punch for review.

  5. Before you upload

Upload the original file, one month at a time and under 5 MB. Check in the preview that EmployeeCode and DateTime are present.

Frequently asked questions

How do I convert an eSSL attendance log to Excel?

Export the attendance log from eTimeTrackLite as Excel or CSV and upload it to the free analyzer. WatheeqaHR reads the exported file and does not connect to the device.

Does it matter if the header is Employee Code or EmployeeCode?

No. Spaces, dots, dashes and underscores are ignored when headers are matched.

How does it know check-in from check-out?

This shape has no direction column, so the first punch of the day is check-in and the last is check-out.

Does a single punch count as an absence?

No. It is shown as a missing punch for review.

Is this an eSSL compatibility guarantee?

No. This page describes the header shape our tests use. Test your real file.
