Matrix COSEC Attendance Excel Export: Headers and Pitfalls

A Matrix COSEC attendance report is a daily layout: one row per employee per day. The header shape our tests cover is Employee Code, Employee Name, Date, In Time, Out Time. WatheeqaHR reads Employee Code as the employee ID, Date as the day and In Time and Out Time as the day's check-in and check-out. A few title rows above the header are tolerated because the header row is searched for near the top.

Matrix COSEC: header shape, what WatheeqaHR reads and pitfalls

  1. The header shape our tests cover

The automated tests resolve this header row: Employee Code, Employee Name, Date, In Time, Out Time, with Employee Code as the employee ID. Export the COSEC attendance report as Excel or CSV.

  2. What WatheeqaHR reads from it

Employee Code is the employee ID and Employee Name the name. Date is the working day, and In Time and Out Time are the day's check-in and check-out. This is a daily report, so each row stands for a whole day, not a single punch.

  3. Pitfall: the Date column must stay

Because the times are in separate In Time and Out Time columns, they need a date to belong to. A file with those columns and no date column is refused with 'No attendance-date column was found'. Do not delete the Date column to tidy the sheet.

  4. Pitfall: title rows above the header

Reports often start with a title or filter lines. The parser looks for a header-like row among the first ten rows, so a few lines above it are fine. A title block longer than ten rows may push the header out of range.

  5. Before you upload

Upload the original file, one month at a time and under 5 MB. In the preview check that Employee Code, Date, In Time and Out Time are present.

Frequently asked questions

How do I convert a Matrix COSEC attendance report to Excel?

Export the attendance report from COSEC as Excel or CSV, then upload it to the free analyzer. WatheeqaHR reads the file and does not connect to the device.

Why was my COSEC file refused for a missing date?

The file has In Time and Out Time columns but no Date column. Re-export with the date included.

Can there be title rows above the headers?

Yes, a few. The header row is searched for within the first ten rows.

Is this daily layout the same as a raw punch log?

No. Each row is one employee for one day, with In Time and Out Time. Both layouts are read, and a summary with no times is refused.

Is this a Matrix compatibility guarantee?

No. This page describes the header shape our tests use. Test your real file.
